This one hour class, for the high level ballet dancer, compliments traditional classic training.
When working on the floor, as a resistance, one is more conscious of seeking and finding  physical alignment and better body control.This method offers an excellent series of exercises to gain strength, support and balance.

                                                  
  DANCE DIVISIONS

  Pre- Dance Division: (3 and 4 years old) must be correct age by September 12, 2011.
  Age-appropriate levels emphasizing Music and Movement. This specialized program                 includes the basics of music, song & dance. This is a non recital level.
  Pre-dance classes will have designated in-studio parent viewing days.
  45 minute class   - 1 class rate 


  Beginner Dance Division: (5 years old) must be 5 by September 12, 2011.
  Age-appropriate level emphasizing the joy of movement. This specialized program
  includes the basics of ballet, music, song & dance, and developing a good self-image.
  This is a recital level class that will be performing June 2012.
  45 minute class – 1 class rate

  NEW…Ballet /Tap Combo: (6 years old) Must be 6 by September 12, 2011.
  Develops a strong rhythmic and technical foundation for all styles of dance. Includes Ballet       and Tap technique. Students will need both ballet and tap shoes. This is a recital level class     and will perform both a ballet and tap routine in our June 2012 student showcase.
  Dancers who completed Beginner Dance 1 or new 6 year olds should register for this class.
  1.5 hour class / - 1.5 hour class rate

  Junior Division Levels 1 thru 4: must be the correct age by September 12, 2011.
  A progressive program of ballet, tap, hip-hop and jazz emphasizing versatility, style and            technique. 1 hour classes. All classes are in the June 2012 Student Showcase.
  We have added a new level of Jazz. Students who completed Beginner Dance 2 or new
  7 year olds may now enroll in Ballet, Tap and Jazz level 1.
  Students who completed Combo may now enroll in Ballet, Tap and Jazz level 2.
  All Jazz students should now enroll in the same level as their Ballet. (Example: Ballet level 2      students should enroll in Jazz level 2 … Ballet level 3 in Jazz level 3, etc.).

  Teen/Adult Division Levels: Ballet, jazz, hip-hop, tap, core and ballroom for beginner
  and continuing students.
  1 hour classes.
  Refer to fee schedule for multiple class discounts.

  Intermediate/ Advanced Division: A comprehensive curriculum designed for the aspiring       dancer. This professional level performing arts program includes classical ballet, pointe,            jazz, tap, modern, contemporary, core/strength, leaps and turns, street funk, floor barre,            master classes and performance opportunities.
  •  Current Advanced dancers may remain in the advanced level; all other students may                only participate in Advanced level classes with teacher recommendations.
  •  New students to the ADC will be evaluated and appropriately placed.
  •  Leaps and Turns, core, floor barre and weekday ballet classes are all technique and will           not participate in the June, 2012 student showcase.
  •  All other classes will participate in the show.

  DRESS CODE POLICY

  Children and Junior Division Ballet (girls): Pink or black leotards, pink or black tights,          pink ballet shoes. Skirts optional. Some leotards have skirts attached.
  (No prints on leotards or tutus allowed.)
  Hair should be pulled back off the face.

  Junior Jazz (girls): Mix and Match any solid colored leotard, dance shorts, jazz pants or          tights and ADC logo shirts. Levels 1-4 tan jazz shoes for the recital.

  Teen and Adults: Shoes, tights, leotards, or workout attire of any color.

  Intermediate and Advanced: Students should wear black leotards and pink tights for             ballet. Appropriate attire and shoes for all other classes. Hair should be pulled back off
  the face. Individual instructors may ask students to abide by a certain dress code.

  Men and Boys: Solid color t-shirts, ADC logo shirts, black sweat pants, shorts or jazz pants.    Appropriate shoes.




Capoeira is a Brazilian art form that combines elements of martial arts, sports, music, rhythm and dance.
It was created in Brazil in the 16th century and is now practiced world-wide. This class is suitable for all ages and fitness levels and will build strength, flexibility, coordination and endurance. It will incorporate quick and complex moves, using mainly power kicks and quick leg sweeps, with some ground and aerial acrobatics, knee strikes, take-downs, elbow strikes and punches.

David Linhares started Capoeira in his home country of Brazil at age 12. He moved to New Jersey at 16 and trained under Mestre Cigano from Brazil. After a year, he began training with Mestre Jo, where he developed his own style. Three years later, he moved to Oahu, Hawaii where continued to work on his skills and began teaching. Over the last 9 years, he has been teaching and making guest appearances throughout the Hawaiian Islands and around the USA with many Capoeira Groups.
David is also an active member with SAG (Screen Actors Guild) where he has done extensive appearance works in movies such as Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Hawaii 5'0, Shaggy Dog, Journey to The Center of The Earth and most recent, Soul Surfer. David is excited to visit Chicago for the first time and share his talents with the ADC students.

John Shawn ASD Basler is a former ADC student, company soloist and alumni. He furthered his training as a dance major at Wright State University and started his Capoeira training nine years ago in Sarasota, Florida under Mestre Rony from Brazil and Instructor Mario of Sarasota.
He later moved to Maui, Hawaii where he continued his training with Contra - Mestre Pardal and Contra - Mestre Fabio. John later traveled to the island of Oahu to train under Instructor David Linhares. He was the Assisant Director of Rio Maui Veloso Capoeira Groupo in Maui. John’s versatility in his talents, singing, dancing, business and ministry, has allowed him to gain recognition world-wide. John is also the ADC manager in our Homewood location for the 2011- 2012 season.
